Sub-Zero columns, panels and seals in West Hollywood
Bordering Beverly Grove, and much the same kitchens: designed rooms, columns set flush with the joinery, and fronts heavy enough to matter.

What the doors and panels here are doing
Flush-fitted columns are the norm on this side, and a flush fit is a tolerance rather than a style. The reveal around the door is the whole design, so a hinge that has settled by a fraction is visible from across the room and a door that has gained a heavier front starts catching the cabinet on its way past. Most of the work here is measurement and adjustment before anything is replaced, and all of it is planned around joinery that is worth more than the appliance it hides.
Two things make a column different from a built-in with a grille above it. The hinges are concealed, so nothing on the outside tells you where the adjustment is; and the door is meant to sit flush with the run it lives in, so there is no margin to absorb a change.
That is why the first half of a visit here is measuring. The gap is read at the top and the bottom of the door and compared, the door is closed on paper along all four edges, and the front is checked for anything added since it was hung — a finish, a handle, a thicker slab. A column that is catching its neighbour has almost always moved by less than the width of a credit card, and knowing by how much is the difference between an adjustment and a part.
